The role

Help people and
technology work together.

I joined IQA in a focused technical liaison role. I worked between speakers, the committee and the AV team to help get presentations ready and keep the practical details connected.

My work included reviewing PowerPoints with the AV team, adjusting presentation files, setting up printers at the registration desk and connecting computers to the network printers.

The work on site

Preparation, communication
and practical support.

Presentation support

Went through PowerPoints with the AV team and adjusted files where needed.

Speaker & committee liaison

Acted as the link between presenters, committee members and the AV team.

Registration printers

Set up the registration desk printers and connected computers to them over the local network.

Troubleshooting alongside the team

Helped AV support identify a printer connection problem and work through a practical change.

An issue that needed attention

When the printer connection
became unreliable.

Although I was there to guide AV and ensure presentations were working, a network printer began dropping out. I stepped in alongside AV support to help identify the problem.

We changed the printer connection from IPP to TCP/IP. After that change, the dropouts were a lot less frequent.

A practical connection change helped reduce registration desk interruptions.

How I approach event support

I treat the event
as my own.

I want the event to run smoothly. That means being prepared for the agreed role, communicating clearly with the people involved and being willing to help when an unexpected issue needs attention.

IQA is an example of focused onsite support: presentations and technical liaison were the starting point, with practical troubleshooting when the registration team needed a hand.
