MMIRA.
Connecting the moving parts.
Event and digital support from beginning to end, with practical tools built around the committee’s work.
People, practical work
and the right tools.
Bring the event’s information
and experience together.
For MMIRA, I provided ongoing support across the event. Registration and abstract submissions, the website and app, branding, communications and onsite layouts all needed to support the work of the committee and the experience of attendees.
My role covered both the creative work people could see and the technology and practical processes behind it. As issues emerged, I listened to what the team needed and developed solutions around that work.
A connected identity
and digital presence.
Registration & abstract submissions
Provided and managed registration and abstract submission technology for the event.
Branding, website & app
Created the event branding, produced the MMIRA website and event app, and designed PowerPoint materials.
Briefs & communications
Took part in a work-integrated learning session with Torrens University students, explaining the website brief and requirements. Created EDMs and sent event communications.
Layouts & the final wrap-up
Attended site inspections and produced floorplans showing rooms and furniture changes. Produced the event proceedings and assisted with the TEQ and general surveys.
Visa letters without
the repetitive administration.
As an international event, MMIRA received many requests for visa letters. The information collected initially did not cover all the questions needed, creating additional work for the team.
I developed a simple tool that let people generate a letter when they were given the link. It also recorded every application and maintained a spreadsheet for reporting after the event.
The tool saved hours of work while keeping a record of the requests.
From an abstract spreadsheet
to a visual schedule.
There wasn’t an existing process to replace. We imported the abstract spreadsheet into a queue and developed a program schedule with empty areas ready to be filled.
The committee could drag and drop abstracts from the queue into the schedule. This gave them a practical, visual way to build the program from the submissions they already had.
A program the committee could assemble much more easily.
Reports ready for
board discussions.
I also developed a custom set of graphical reports from spreadsheets so the committee could present information during MMIRA board meetings.
The reports examined the locations of abstract submissions and used heatmaps to show the topics and themes that had been chosen. They gave the team a visual way to discuss the submission information.
Useful software starts
with a human problem.
I listen to the issue first, then develop a solution. AI can be part of that work, but the goal is a tool that makes sense to the people using it.
MMIRA brought together design, event platforms, communications and small bespoke tools. The value came from adapting the work to the committee’s needs and making the technology easier to use.
More work in practice.
What could we make easier?
Tell me what you’re planning and where your team needs a hand. We can work through the people, practical details and technology together.
